Please be safe

Picture this – you are watching the movie Smurf and Papa Smurf is singing and dancing with the Winslows in their apartment, when all of a sudden the front door exploded and John McClane came rolling in (slow-mo). Right behind him was The Terminator (the very first no-nonsense version), striding into the living hall while reloading his shotgun, again in slow-mo. The Winslows and Papa Smurf were too shocked to react, they froze. The Terminator scans the room and located Papa; “SUBJECT – PAPA SMURF. WEAPON – SINGING. THREAT – HIGHLY ANNOYING.”. Without hesitation, The Terminator pulled the trigger and blasted Papa Smurf to smithereens. John McClane was still in mid air (again, slow-mo), guns drawn, unloaded all his lead into the Winslows and what’s left of Papa Smurf. The End.

How bout that for ‘WTF’?

I was browsing Runners World forum, looking at what people are wearing, how they are training for marathons, how to deal with injuries, etc. and all of a sudden I came across this topic which totally sent me to WTF mode.

WTF Mode ON

I was like, here I am innocently gathering info on which hydration pack is most suited for trail running, there are actually people out there asking what’s the best way to carry their gun when they are out running!?!? Like what kinda scary shit neighborhood you running in?!?

Sometimes, I’m so glad I’m in Malaysia. While I know Malaysia is not the safest country, its sad that we need a gun while out running, and worst still, we are given an option to have a gun while running. Carrying a gun is 1 thing, using it is another. Lets face it, we are no John McClane or Terminator.

I’ve been in situations where I wish I had a gun before; I was robbed in a cyber cafe at night. Given a choice, I’d rather be safe and take steps to AVOID that situation; I stopped going to cyber cafes. I know we can't avoid every possible situation and very often, we don't know we are in one until it's too late.

But fuck shit what you gonna do with the gun?!? Do you have the guts to pull the trigger and take someones life??! Lagi worst you chicken out and the assailant take your gun. *faint*

It’s always better to be safe than sorry. Never do it alone. If you can't be safe, don't do it!!! There's a choice in everything we do. Make that choice and be safe.

To whore or not to whore

I came across a very interesting article today, and it hit a few notes.

Check it out.

Many many years ago when I started jigging (fishing method, in case you don't know), I was using a PE3 rod at Pekan, with a Shimano Navi 8000. My line was 40lbs. Now, I go to Pekan with a PE1 rod with my Shimano Stella C3000, with 12lb line.

And it took me 4 to 5 years, countless fishing trips to get there. Not to mention having to land the fishes to get the experience.

Experience gives you confidence. It makes you more and more confident trip after trip. As your confidence grow, your gears become lighter. But... It didn't get lesser. In fact, mine got more...

Because we became more specialized. We knew exactly what we wanted to catch, how we gonna catch them and where and when. And the different target at different location and depth and time potentially means an entirely different setup!!

I WAS a tackle whore.

So how will it be for running? Will I be a running whore? Or am I already one? So I'm a running whore in denial?

Only time will tell...

Until next time, run if you can.

What are you running for?

All the GLORY in the world is NOTHING if there are no GOODIES!!!! And vice versa!

It's seriously sad if the only reason you run is to stay healthy... To keep fit... Argh!! Strangle me pls...

That's so SIAN!!! Come on!!! There are just so many things to enjoy and 'tangkap' with!!

And here's another reason why I run... The goodies and glory from joining different runs!! And the prerequisite from joining the runs are simple. Finisher medal for all, we are in!! Finisher medal for top 50 runners, F#%K #%F. Got finisher T? Let's go!! Got discount vouchers??? OI... JOM!!!!

We've signed up for Malakoff (18th December) and MPIB (8th January) run, both 12km. And yes, both also got running vests, finishing medal, and goodies bag!! Woot Woot!!!

Yes I can!

Been sick and have not ran for the whole week. And it's day 6 of my Tak Nak Campaign!! So I went for two 5km runs back to back. Stop to split the timing.

Usually I'll be having pain in the right side of my tummy after a couple of km. But I had none today. Could be due to my breathing; I was breathing every 2 steps instead of my usual 3by2 or 3by3. But the knees still hurts, from the 3rd km onwards. :-s

What you running for?

Once again, that all so intriguing question, what are you running for?!?

I'm running for Runtastic!!!

This is totally gamification in action!! It's like Final Fantasy in real life. Too bad they don't have leveling up function in the app.

But the truth is, I'm so hooked on to this app that I can't wait to run so I have more stuff to 'analyze' with.

How fast you running... How high..

Where you running...

So all in all, you get this bunch of statistic after your run, which you can analyze, and plan and set target for your next run!

Gamification, I like.

Mind over matter

My proudest achievement as a RUNNER (what a weird thing to call myself) is completing my first Half Marathon.

t was a tough run, I barely train before the race. My knees were hurting from the 5th km and every step was a pain.

But it's true what they say, mind over matter. So I just went on and on without thinking bout it, and look for runners to pace myself with.

What you running for?

I run to stay healthy... NOT!! Hahahaha... I kept asking myself, what you running for!?!?

I run so I can shop!!!

Check out this Salomon Fellcross!!

Or the NB Minimus Trail!!!

Anyway, that's me; a sucker for top of the range products. I firmly believe good things come with a price. And if it's red, I'm sold, and most likely have ordered them online.

Health Freak Testing Testing

Few months back I went fishing at Pulau Jarak with GT Chaser, and was chatting with Captain Ah Ho bout vege juice. Coincidently, I bought an expensive Philips blender and was cracking my head what to do with it. So after the fishing trip, I started my vege juice routine daily.

My daily breakfast... Spinach, apple, carrot, plain yoghurt and blend. I also cut some smaller pieces of apple and carrot for Kayden and Kenzie and they love it!

And I went Giant earlier and went on a health freak spree.

Bananas for our weekend runs or hikes. Oats, cornflakes and nestum to rotate with vege juice in the morning, or for pre/post runs energy boosting. Anlene concentrated milk for the oats or nestum. Celery to add to the morning juice.
