This is it!!

It's gonna happen, in few hours time. Time really flies. A year ago if you ask me to run 10km I'll say you Siow.

Now I'm running 42km, or die trying...

Many people asked, what's my target timing. Hahahah... I just want to finish.

I just hope the excitement won't keep me awake through the night... Not so funny if that happens...

Too M Too S?

It's been 1.5 weeks and the pain at my right foot is still there. Tried running last weekend at Lake Gardens but the pain was too much. Ended doing stairs a few rounds before feasting myself again...

So instead of running to train for the 26th of June, I'm eating to train.

KL Tower International Towerthon 2012

I think it was over in 30 minutes. I was really expecting something longer.

But it was a tough one. I really need to do some proper research on food consumption prior to run.

The run started at 4pm, n my lunch was around 12 noon. Although it was hours before, I think it was too heavy. I had mixed rice.. 3 pieces of curry chicken... 3 pieces of herbal chicken... Veggie... And a big piece of fried drumstick. I finished everything.

The first KM up the hill to the base of the tower almost pancit-ed me. :-s and the steps that followed was madness. I kept burping my lunch...

Lesson learned, not so much meat, or rice, or anything heavy before a run. A very bad habit of mine; eating heavy all the time.

And I did just that after the runS. After the Towerthon, we went to KLCC to run at their park. But after 2.5km, it started raining. So... It's MAKAN time!!

And there was yoghurt ice cream, prawn fish head noodle, and claypot Loh Shi Fun.

And don't forget the free Milo that's always there for you.

And since their tshirt was terrible, and quality of medal also so so... Doubt I'll be back next year. Thanks for a good run and ciao KL Tower!!

Towerthon Kit Kollection

Today is Wednesday, 16th May 2013. KL Tower International Towerthon is in 3 days time.

Collected the running kit today. Am I ready? Hahahaha... As usual lo...

I must say, the tshirt that came in the goody bag, worst quality ever, in both design and material. I don't have a picture of it. Doubt you will see me wearing it. But you should see others wear them this Saturday.

SeeYa Up & Down

Is my training consistent?

Ok la... I try to run as much as I can. And when I go to the gym in office, I'll do some stairs after. Are my legs skinny and hairy? Conzperm.com.

And since I signed up for KL Towerthon, kinda like no choice. Die die also gotta do do some stairs. Today I did 2 rounds of 21 floors. The last time 3 and before that 2.

April 2012

Since I know myself pretty well, I’m proud to say that… having no discipline is my strength.

April 2012

But I think I’ve been quite consistent in my runs in the past few months. Somemore the above calendar missed out quite a few gym sessions.

So am I ready for the big day on 24th June?

Not really… :|

Scary…

Vibram FiveFingers Spyridon LS

Ever since I started running in my Bikila almost exclusively, I always wanted something more rugged that I can go hiking or trail running with. When Vibram announced the Spyridon LS, I was surfing their website almost daily waiting for them to be in stock.

P1050415

Compared to the Salomon Fell Cross, the Spyridon’s sole is nothing. But then again, pound for pound, it’s not really a fair comparison.

P1050416

At 209g per shoe, this is as rugged as it gets.

P1050424

Here’s an extract from their website -

“Our first trail running–specific model, the Spyridon LS provides the perfect balance of “foot feel” and protection on rugged surfaces. A minimalist 3.5mm Vibram rubber sole provides impact protection from stones and debris, while better allowing proper barefoot dynamics. The aggressive tread design delivers sure-footed grip in all directions, molded nylon mesh in midsole adds a “rock block” effect, dispersing impact over a wider area. The Coconut Active Carbon upper offers natural breathability and an adjustable hook-and-loop closure ensures a secure fit. 3M reflective applications for safety after dark. Machine Washable. Air Dry.”

P1050417

I think the white portion is the “molded nylon mesh” that gives you protection without impacting ‘minimalism’.

P1050422

This should be the '”adjustable hook-and-loop closure ensures a secure fit”. The Spyridon fits my feet perfectly so I don’t really rely on the lace.

P1050419

Even your toes are given some rugged traction.

P1050420

Just like the SeeYa, you can see '”Vibram” all over the Spyridon LS.

Vibram FiveFingers SeeYa

Introducing… the MOTHER of all FEATHER… Vibram FiveFingers SeeYa!!photo 3

Here’s an extract from their website -

“The ultra-streamlined SeeYa is our newest performance option for serious minimalist runners. Designed to bring you even closer to the barefoot sensation, we’ve radically reduced overall weight and material with a more breathable mesh upper to deliver true, performance-driven footwear. Minimum rubber thickness in the outsole maximizes “foot feel” and flexibility, while a soft TPU midsole further reduces thickness and weight for natural movement. A stitched-in polyurethane insole protects skin and foot tissue during longer runs. For a snug fit, the lightweight, single-layer, stretch mesh upper has an adjustable hook-and-loop closure. 3M reflective applications for night running. Machine Washable. Air Dry.”photo 2

Everything about this shoe is thin thin thin. Just to show you how thin, here’s a roll up version of it. Took me 3 seconds to roll it down. It feels like feather, weighs like feather and rolls like feather. There’s is nothing solid about this shoe, in a good way of course. And the sole is as thin as it gets. P1050405

Interesting story, I saw a dude wearing this for the Energizer Singapore Night Trail last week. I hope he is a seasoned barefoot runner because I was wearing the Spyridon LS, and it was no joke; it was a rocky trail and  I was feeling every bit of it, and it was painful. I honestly doubt he finish the run…  P1050407

I’ll leave the professional review to the professionals, and do give some unprofessional ramblings of my own.

P1050414

I can’t help but wonder, why do Vibram have so many ‘Vibrams’ on their Vibram FiveFingers?

P1050409

It’s like they scared people will mistaken them for some other brands. P1050410

It’s EVERYWHERE! Front, top, side, bottom and back!!P1050411

This one is for leaving a print after you step on shits! ‘Hey! Someone wearing a Vibram just stepped on the wet cement!!’P1050412

Here’s the official confirmation of the SeeYa as the champion of all champions. P1050423
